What is Grassroots Advocacy?

NH has one of the largest legislative bodies in the world! In the US, it is second only to the US Congress and in the world, it is said we are only behind the English and Indian Parliaments. The 1,380,000 residents of New Hampshire (1,084,643 registered voters) are represented by 400 Representatives, 24 Senators, 5 Executive Councilors, and one Governor. More info about the NH State Government can be found here: https://www.nh.gov/almanac/government.htm. There are pros and cons to having such a large legislature. One of the downsides is the difficulty in reaching all of the legislators who will be making decisions on a certain issue - one person or organization cannot do it all. The upside is that being our legislators are "Citizen Legislators" which means that they hold other roles in their home community and have a great desire to interact with their constituents and hear what they have to say!

Grassroots Advocacy is just like it sounds - many everyday people speaking to those in a position to make decisions.

This is why we need YOU to RAISE YOUR VOICE! The MANY legislators that you elected need to hear from you. YOU are their local expert on long-term care! Whether you are a long-term care resident, a family member of a resident, a staff member, or an owner of a facility, YOU have a unique perspective. RAISE YOUR VOICE and educate your legislators about YOUR successes and challenges in long-term care.

When the legislators make decisions, we do not want them thinking about the numbers on the spreadsheets - we want them thinking about the PEOPLE in the long-term care communities. The faces and stories of the residents need to be on the legislators minds when they are making decisions about budgets, regulations, legislation, and more!

Learn about the ISSUES & FACTS here. Learn how to RAISE YOUR VOICE here. Don't miss this opportunity to have your voice heard, in harmony with other long-term care leaders, families, residents, and caregivers in New Hampshire.
